The core effect

4 June 2018

Hi Sleekers,

Victoria here, co-founder of Sleek Technique and self-confessed core strength nut! I am such a huge advocate of exercising to maintain a strong core because it simply is the center and origin of almost every movement we do. Let’s have a quick chat about why and how to maximize the benefits?

How and why you should improve your core strength?

Think of your core muscles as the sturdy central link in a chain connecting your upper and lower body. Whether you’re hitting a tennis ball, mopping the floor or extending your leg in a beautiful classical develope, the necessary motions either originate in your core or move through it. So with that said, we have a new Sleek Shred Abs 2 out to stream this week and our original Sleek Shred series (a collection of 3x 10-minute target area workouts) is now available to download and keep. So you can get your Core fix along with your lower and upper body wherever you are.

Sleek Shred Abs 2 is a 10-minute, power-packed workout that you will feel a difference with right from the start and when practiced at least 3x a week you will see the difference fast! A strong core is not all about aesthetics and having a six-pack. It is about overall function. No matter where a motion starts, it ripples upward and downward to adjoining links of the chain. Thus, weak or inflexible core muscles can impair how well your arms and legs function too. This, in turn, saps power from many of the moves you make. Properly strengthening up your core increases your power, enhances balance and stability. It can help prevent falls and injuries while exercising or simply in everyday life. A strong, flexible core underpins almost everything you do.

The most effective way to achieve a balanced core workout

At Sleek we like to think of the core as a muscular corset, encompassing front, side and back. In Sleek Shred Abs we work each area systematically and equally which in turn ensures the overall balance that will give you the most stability and strength. Overtraining abdominal muscles while snubbing muscles of the back and hip can set you up for injuries and back problems (an ailment that over 80% of the population suffer with at some point in their lives) A weak core also contribute to slouching and bad posture. Good posture trims your silhouette and projects confidence and more importantly, it lessens wear and tear on the spine and allows you to breathe deeply. Good posture helps you gain full benefits from the effort you put into exercising.

See great results

Aside from the benefits of a beautiful flat tummy and trim waistline, if you want to prevent back or postural issues as well as improve overall strength, stability and resilience, you should be incorporating a core-focused workout like Sleek Shred Abs 2 twice to three times in your workout week. At 10 minutes it is the perfect ‘short on time’ workout but also ideal to tack on to any of your other Sleek workouts for a longer session and to speed up your results. We have completed the series with Sleek Shred upper and lower body focussed workouts. Get them all to add to your permanent workout collection today.

Much Sleek love
